Our client is a multi-department hospital in India with five departments and around twelve doctors. Before working with ThemeMakker, it ran its operations on a mix of Microsoft Office files and paper. Each department worked in isolation, and the patient paid for that in time, queues and repeated paperwork.
ThemeMakker delivered a custom Hospital Management System on Laravel as an end-to-end development partner, taking the project from requirements to a live system in two months. The platform connects every step of the patient journey, from the first appointment to medicine collection and billing.
Each patient has a single record. Every consultation, diagnosis and prescription is linked to it, so doctors and patients can see the medical history instead of starting a new file for each illness.
All appointments are now booked in the system against real doctor availability. Through a web-based patient portal, patients can see when doctors are available and book open time slots themselves, and they can book follow-up appointments whenever needed. Reception books the remaining appointments in the same system.
Doctors write every prescription in the system with the patient's history in front of them. Pharmacy inventory is managed in the same platform, so doctors can see which medicines are available before prescribing. Patients collect their medicines from the pharmacy, and every issue is recorded.
Consultation, pharmacy and other charges are combined into a single invoice that can be settled when needed. This replaced eight separate payment points, and both patients and the accounts team can view the full billing history.
Doctors, reception, pharmacy and accounts work in one system, and each role sees the information it needs. This gives the hospital the coordination it lacked.
The system has been live and in daily use for two years. The results:
“The investment in the system paid off within just 5 months of adoption, from the savings on salaried staff requirements alone.”
This project shows that a hospital's biggest costs often lie in its process, not its medicine: queues, duplicate paperwork and manual coordination. By connecting patients, doctors, pharmacy and accounts on one platform, ThemeMakker helped the hospital halve its operational staffing, recover its investment in five months, and turn a worst-case three-hour visit into a ten-minute one.
